Senior Session at the Factory at Franklin

When it comes to capturing senior portraits, finding the right location is key. I was thrilled to return to The Factory at Franklin for this session after not having shot there in a while. Iโ€™m happy to report that the new owners still allow photography with a paid permit, which is great news because The Factory remains one of my favorite spots for its endless variety of stunning backdrops and unique charm.

We began the session at Studio TN, to celebrate this senior’s love of the theater. The theater provided a meaningful and personal setting that beautifully reflected his passion for performing. The dramatic lighting and intimate atmosphere made it a fantastic place to start, and it set the tone for a creative and fun shoot.

Next, we headed to the colorful and eclectic shops within The Factory. A big thank-you to Luna Record Shop and CR-71 for letting us take photos in their stores. These spaces were a perfect fit for this seniorโ€™s personality. Whether posing among the vinyl records or exploring the treasures at CR-71, these indoor locations added such a unique and personalized touch to the session.

We wrapped up the session with The Factoryโ€™s gorgeous outdoor spaces, which I have always loved. The industrial brick walls, large glass panels, and beautiful architectural details provided a classic and timeless backdrop. I think the overcast day added a depth and contrast to the photos that is just beautiful.

What makes The Factory at Franklin so special is its versatility. From its creative indoor locations to the stunning outdoor settings, itโ€™s a photographerโ€™s dream. Every corner offers something unique, and itโ€™s the kind of location that helps bring a seniorโ€™s personality to life in every shot.

This session was a wonderful mix of creativity, fun, and meaningful moments. Huge thanks again to Studio TN, Luna Record Shop, and CR-71 for being part of this incredible experience!

Fall Mini-Sessions at Sarah Benson Park ๐Ÿ

Once a year, I offer fall mini-sessions, and this past weekend at Sarah Benson Park. Even though I generally prefer the relaxed pace of a full sessionโ€”getting to know each family in-depth and allowing everyone time to feel comfortable in front of the cameraโ€”mini-sessions offer a unique opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces in a short, fun burst of energy.

I always try to book these mini-sessions on a late October weekend, when the leaves are usually at their peak for fall color. This year, I was lucky enough to have all three mini-session slots filled by families I already know and love working with, which is always my hope for mini-sessions.

The first family I photographed was one I got to know earlier this year while capturing senior photos for their oldest. Seeing the whole family together was such a joy, and their teens were perfect for a mini-sessionโ€”they’re at that age where they understand the flow of a photoshoot, which helps keep things moving smoothly.

The second session was with a family I’ve been photographing for years. Watching their girls grow up has been such a joy, and I can hardly believe how big theyโ€™re getting. Mini-sessions are a great way for families like this to update their family photos regularly without committing to a full session each year. And oh my goodness, the giggles. I just love these girls.

The final session was with one of my dearest friends from college and her family. Despite the limited time of a mini-session, we found a few moments for her little ones to run, play, and capture some natural, candid shots. Those small moments make even a quick session feel meaningful.

Senior Portrait Session at Eastern Flank Battlefield

I still have a few weekday sessions available in November. If youโ€™re looking to fit in a last-minute senior session, these weekday spots can be a great optionโ€”especially for seniors who get out of school early due to online classes or flexible schedules. These spots tend to not fill up completely because they have to be so early in the day because of the early sunset. But the lighting is beautiful this time of year, and if you can make it to the session early, youโ€™ll be rewarded with some gorgeous shots.

If November doesnโ€™t work for you, January and February are also great times for senior photos without the hustle and bustle of the fall season. Iโ€™m currently offering a discount with the coupon code “WINTER” for $50 off when you book ahead for these months, and Iโ€™m always flexible about rescheduling if itโ€™s too cold outside.

I had so much fun photographing this young woman recently at one of my favorite spots. We started by the creek and ended at the Eastern Flank Battlefield, where we were blessed with the prettiest pink sky as the sun was setting.

If youโ€™re thinking about booking, donโ€™t wait! Spots fill up fast, and nowโ€™s a perfect time to lock in a date.
