A Downtown Franklin Senior Session with Old Friends

Senior pics in Downtown Franklin

When this senior’s parents reached out about booking his senior portrait session, I immediately said yes – not just because I love photographing seniors, but because they are dear old friends and I was excited to see them.

His parents and I go way back to our Tennessee Tech days, where we were all Engineering majors trying to survive thermodynamics and calculus together. When my husband and I moved to Spring Hill after a few years in Detroit, they happened to live here too, and we picked up right where we left off. Those were some of the best times – regular Spades games at each other’s houses, lots of laughter, and just enjoying that phase of life when you’re building your careers and starting families.

I’ll never forget visiting them in the hospital when their son was born. I was very pregnant with my second daughter at the time, and the hospital staff actually thought I was there to check myself in! We all had a good laugh about that one. Life happened, as it does, and they eventually moved away from Spring Hill, and we haven’t been able to see them much.

What makes this even more special is that they were some of my very first clients when I started my photography business. They believed in me from the beginning and were such incredible supporters during those early days when I was still figuring everything out. So clearly, I was thrilled for the chance to see them again and photograph their son at this milestone.

Downtown Franklin was the perfect backdrop. We wandered around the area, found some great light between the buildings, and he totally nailed every shot. We also included a few family shots, which are some of my favorites from the session.

The whole thing honestly felt more like catching up with old friends than work, which made everything so much more relaxed and fun.

Ready to capture your senior’s personality and this important milestone? I’d love to photograph your family’s next chapter – reach out and let’s start planning a session that’s all about celebrating who they’ve become. Book now.

Senior Guy Session in Downtown Franklin

This week, I had the pleasure of photographing a senior session in downtown Franklin, and it was a fantastic time! This senior was really easy and fun to photograph, and we even got to incorporate some skateboarding shots.

His mom was fortunate to grab this session date last minute after another client rescheduled, and I’m so glad it worked out. So many people want fall photos and it’s just hard to accommodate everyone.

If you’ve been trying to get a last-minute fall session, I’ve got great news for you. I just added several new dates to my calendar! For weekends, I have openings on November 23 and December 7 & 8. Plus, there are some weekday slots available in November as well. I know weekday sessions can be tough because of the early sunset, but if you can take some time off work or if your senior gets out of school early, these spots are perfect for capturing fall’s golden hour.

I’m also offering a discount on January and February sessions. Use the code “WINTER” when booking to receive $50 off. Winter sessions bring their own unique magic, and I’d love to help you capture those moments. Reach out soon if you’re interested—these dates are sure to fill up fast!

Looking forward to hearing from you! 🙂

If you’re looking to schedule your own senior session or know someone who is, check out my updated calendar for availability! Fall dates are filling up fast, and I’m offering a special discount for January and February sessions with the coupon code “WINTER.” Share this post with your friends who might be interested in booking a session as well! Senior Session in Downtown Franklin: Perfect Summer Memories

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a senior session for the son of an old friend from college. It was great to catch up and create these special memories. Since he attends Franklin High School, downtown Franklin, his stomping grounds, was the perfect backdrop for his senior photos. Summer is an ideal time for senior sessions, offering a relaxed setting before the whirlwind of senior year begins.

Senior Portrait Session in Downtown Franklin

It was a gorgeous evening in downtown Franklin for this senior portrait session. This really is my favorite time of the year and I love spending it getting to know new clients. My only complaint is that because editing takes so long, I can’t schedule as many clients as I would like.

I do have a few mini-session spots open if you are looking for a fall session. There are also a few spots left for Santa photos.

Combination Senior and Family Portrait Session | Downtown Franklin

Family with Teens portrait session in downtown franklin

Sometimes I have moms who are booking senior photo sessions for their teens who ask if I could also get photographs of the entire family. It’s often the case that we schedule lots of photo sessions when our kids are little, but that gets harder to do as they get older. I am absolutely happy to combine a senior and family session.

My portrait sessions are about an hour long, and we can focus that hour on whatever best fits your needs. Some parents just want a quick family shot with the majority of the session focused on the senior. Others prefer a more even split between a family session and a senior session.

I find that particularly when all the subjects are older, with no very young children to manage, a one-hour session gives plenty of time to get a wide variety of shots. A combination session works particularly well when perhaps your senior isn’t super excited about photos and is willing to share the time.

Downtown Senior Girl at Harlinsdale Farms in Franklin TN

Makayla and her family were visiting family from Michigan and wanted to have senior portraits made while they were in town. Makayla couldn’t decide if she preferred having her pictures taken in downtown Franklin or at the Park of Harlinsdale Farms, so we made both happen!

I have always been sure that the most important subjects in my photos are the people. That is why I don’t tend to use a lot of props with my photography (unless they have some kind of emotional connection). However, I also strongly feel that place is important too. I love including places that have special meaning to a family. Kaelan’s family owns the Franklin Mercantile Deli so she has spent her entire life in the area. She went to preschool at the church down the street, worked at the family restaurant, and even attended music classes in the area.

I love shooting senior portrait sessions in Downtown Franklin generally, but having such a personal connection to the location makes it even more beautiful to me. I loved getting to know Kaelan and her family. She was so photogenic and a joy to be around, not to mention gorgeous.

Kaelan attended Independence High School. I understand that they are attempting to have a graduation ceremony at the end of June. I really hope that these kids are able to safely celebrate their achievements.

I really can’t imagine what it must be like to be a senior during this pandemic. My heart breaks for them and all the experiences they have missed out on. Those lost memories are not trivial things. My sincere hope for the class of 2020 is that they are able to find some happiness in their day to day lives while maintaining hope for the future. I am confident that these young men and women will become the most resilient and resourceful generation yet. I have great confidence in them and can’t wait to see what their futures hold.
