I’m not sure there is anything more magical than the first few weeks at home with your newborn baby.
I also photographed Ellis’s big sister’s newborn portrait session. This was a pose that his parents wanted to recreate from that session. Those magical first moments at home as a family of four are some of my favorite moments. The photos on the wall behind them are ones I took of Catalina when she was a newborn. <3 Catalina is clearlly enamoured with her new baby brother. Those pigtails and that side eye! She is so gentle and sweet with him. Catalina is still a bit too young to safely hold her brother alone for pictures, but with a little help, she did a fantastic job. I love that look they are both giving me. I always make a point to take lots of pictures of siblings at newborn sessions. This is a big moment for them too! I often ask if it’s ok for toddler’s to jump on the bed during a session. Mom and Dad said yes, but Catalina isn’t much of a rebel. There is nothing more beautiful than the way a mother looks at her children. So much love. His big sister wore that same outfit. A beautiful new family fo four. Photo’s like this always remind me of that song “In Daddy’s arms.” I bet she’s a fantastic helper I have a new no-touching policy because of covid 19. Otherwise, I would have just cuddled him all day. I love capturing newborn baby yawns. They are going to be the best friends! I love capturing babies looking up at mom and dad. It’s such a short time that the fit so perfectly in our hands. Such joy. There is nothing ilke holding your newborn in your arms. I love the adorable tree mural in the background. I like for kids to show me their favorite things at a portrait session, including their favorite books. When I come for a newborn session is almost always the first time baby has even been in his crib yet – at this age usually sleeping in a bassinet in mom and dad’s room. Tiny little toes – and I love the peek of mom and dad looking in on him. Catalina counts baby brother’s toes. I love capturing details from baby’s nursery and crib…those are things you love to look back on one day. He’s just perfection. I love the way his tiny hand is holding on to daddy’s arm. Those eyes!! This one gets me a little – I was leaving, and as she looked out the glass door at me, I took off my mask and was able to smile at her for the first time.
